Terrier Group – Judge: Lorraine Sheppard (Polanca)
Many thanks to the committee for asking me to judge the terrier group, I had a super day with some quality terriers. The judges gift was truly stunning.

Bedlington Terrier

Class 11 Post Graduate - 2 entries 0 absent
1st  Godden’s Vakurblue Bacon Buttie 4 yr old blue bitch nicely balanced and typical outline. Lovely temperament. Good head shape and top-knot, correct eye and ear. Presented in good form, exhibiting correct roach and tuck. Sound feet. Good rear, with correct leg length and tail set. Would prefer front to be straighter. Moved ok but lacked motivation.

2nd  O’Hara’s Bridie Blue Moon 2yr old blue bitch lacking in ring presence and confidence compared to 1st. Nice long head of good shape. Correct eye and well set low ears. Clean neck of good length leading into sound front, straight and tapering to the feet. Would prefer more roach and a better shoulder. Lacks a little in rear power and turn of stifle.   Seemed a reluctant show girl.

Class 12 Limit – 1 entry 0 absent
1st O’Hara’s Doehey Ace Of Hearts 4 yr old blue dog, balanced and very typical in outline. Good head and eye. Ears of correct set and shape. Nice chest, correct feet. Correct roach over a strong loin. Nice depth of chest and flat ribs. Correct tail set. Powerful rear with good muscle tone and second thigh. Presented well and with a good temperament. Moved out well, very much a male. Best Of Breed

1st Eastall’s Brisline’s Born In The USA For Daedal 2 yr old bitch Good mouth, excellent expression and ear set. Long well filled powerful head and clean neck. Beautiful straight front leading down to good feet. Well laid shoulder, lovely deep chest. Well bodied, short backed into powerful quarters. Hocks well let down and parallel. Moved out well from powerful rear and beautifully presented. Only detraction is a rather tight tail set. A truly lovely bitch. Best Of Breed

A.V.N.S.C. Terrier

Class 16 Junior – 3 entries 0 absent
1st  Docwra’s Bandicoot Doc Martin – Border T 12 month old grizzle dog of good size. Excellent otter-like head, good bite, keen eye, well set ear and typical jaunty expression. Correct width of rib, good coat. Straightest of fronts. Well padded feet. A young dog who will mature on given time. Typical business-like movement, sturdy and very sound. Beautifully presented and shown to his best attributes. I thought he was a cracking little dog, and the Best in Show judge agreed, very pleased to learn he went on to take the show. One I could happily have taken home. Best of Breed and Best In Show

2nd Johnson’s Bullhawk Maybe Mytime – SBT 12 month old black and white bitch. Well muscled with a gorgeous head piece.  Good, dark round eye, correct ear. Excellent bone for size, straight front and neat feet. Clean neck, nicely rounded rib cage. Short coupled and powerful rear. Beautiful shine on close fitting coat, needs to mature on but a good honest bitch. Moved out well both ways.

1st Emmerson-Green’s Pippajam Emerald Star – SCWT 16 months old good coloured bitch. Nicely waved coat. Good, flat, well covered head with correct proportions. Good mouth. Eye dark under a strong brow. Nicely boned with strong ribs, level back and well muscled rear. Moved out well and with confidence. Handler is a novice and I hope she carries on learning with this honest bitch.

2nd Lovell’s Rufftytufty Razzmatazz – Norfolk T No report as exhibitor left the ring immediately after placement.

Class 19 Open – 4 entries 0 absent
A truly lovely class of terriers!
1st  Sands’ Seasmolt French Connection with Kraxenexis Sealyham T mature white bitch with a good long head, powerful, square jaw, good mouth, good eye and ear giving typical terrier glint and expression. Good sturdy bone and feet. Deep, well developed chest with good width, excellent solid topline, tail set on correctly. A powerful rear drove this robust girl along nice and janutily.  She typically owned the ring and I liked her very much. Coat was acceptable to me as a non-breed specialist though later the owner told me she was just returning to form in that area. Literally pipped at the post for BOB by the Border.

2nd Johnson’s Jonajane Sussudio – SBT Blk brindle with white chest, mature balanced male with excellent short, wide head and good eye. Ears used well. Super strong muzzle and beautiful big clean teeth. Pleasing amount of bone. Neat feet. Well sprung chest leading to moderate length of back and clean bodylines. Powerfully muscled rear, with excellent second thigh.  Moved well with purpose, carrying tail correctly.  Beautifully shown in gleaming fitted coat. Being a Bull Terrier person I could well appreciate this lovely boy.
